For the 27 I agree with the aft traveler since most times you are out with less 
then capable crew, I found it best to have the main close at hand just incase 
sailing on SF bay you get a lot of just incase and with inexperienced crew you 
get even more. but once again this is all personal preference I would suggest 
if at all possible go out on one with the coach roof traveler and see if this 
fits your needs. On my boat I did though change the blocks to Garhauer with an 
higher purchase this greatly improved performance and general sail-ability.

Hey, forget the traveler.  What's with the guy hanging over the open 
transom?BTW, I love my rear traveler.  Wouldn't change it: I like having my 
mainsheet handy right at the tiller without having it run through a bunch of
