So instead of a blackhole, how about starting a fusion reaction where we become
the second sun in our solar system?

That would go against whichever one of Bush's buddies wrote the new Farmer's
almanac that is calling for a cold shift in our climate over the next .  On the
bright side, it would save on heating costs.

Well, considering that our own sun doesn't have the mass needed to form a black
hole upon its death, I'm not even slightly worried about CERN accomplishing
that. That event is so far from being possible, that that particular question
never even occurred to me. And if you are wondering where I got my physics
background, I received nuclear enginering training from the Navy and operated
the power plants on the USS South Carolina, CGN-37 (now decommissioned).

Will it make a black hole ?

If you have trouble with Clew Knot Hang-up....

I might suggest that if you are using two sheets with the traditional
(Terrible) Bowline Knot at the clew..... that you consider a smaller knot. Some
other knots can be tied or slipped closer to the clew. Some HITCHES work well.

I don't want to start a war, but there are lots of ways to bend on Line to a
clew other than a Bowline (awful knot) :-).
Some folks even use a single continuous line and a Cow hitch.

I prefer... The "Ralph Hitch"  (No, I'm not making this up. It can be seen in
some maritime knot books such as Graumont's).
But there are others.

PS,  I can supply photos of the "Ralph' if desired..  Easy to tie.

I guess I need to do that pvc thing since I have the hang-up issues also.  I
did it on a previous boat and it worked well but I struggled with the
aesthetics of it all.  As sailors we are a part of a thing of beauty after
all…  J
