I can tell you of my misadventure down there. It probably won't tell you anything you don't already know, but perhaps it will prove interesting nonetheless.Kevin M. Any thoughts? Pt Sur I have dialed in as 10 miles off to avoid some nasty shallows extending 5 miles off and sea mount sitting 6 – 8 miles out. Coming up from Baja I determined a sea mount 80 feet down would still kick up some big rollers. That Baba (35?) the Navy sunk north of Pt. Sur a few years ago was just too far inside. If you’re not careful you can be in 300 feet of water on the 3 mile line sailing northwest and be in 20 feet an hour later while still 3 miles out. They shredded their sails off hurricane point and broke a mast prompting a Mayday. When the Navy came to help the Baba got under the rescue vessel trying to get her along side in heavy seas.
