When Lou mentioned adding a second stay for a hanked on sail (or a second for the roller furler) I assumed they would be within inches of each other, not in the true cutter style/design. But now I am wondering IF this dual headstay system would work if they were adjacent to each other (side by side at the bow) and only one was used at a time, giving you a choice of using the furler for cruising or the hank up for racing. That might work and both sails would likely set just fine as well as tack fine too. Certainly NOT a true cutter design but more like a dual grove on the foil except it is an additional stay.
I can't imagine the work needed to add a 3/4ths head stay between the head stay and the mast, how would one strengthen the deck to take the load? And I bet the rig tune would be shot for sure unless you moved the mast aft to accommodate the new CE over the CLR. Joe McCary Aeolus II, West River, MD #4795 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
