Dave,

That is great news! I know what a difficult time this must be for you and your
family, but you are not alone.

I am a newbie to the list, but the fraternity of sailors and families is
strong. I and my family will keep you and yours in our hearts, and wish you
continuing good news.

by something, I suppose a boat is as good as anything, perhaps a bit better
than most. A small sailing craft is not only beautiful, it's seductive and
full of strange promise and the hint of
trouble.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Adam Tierney Update 10/21/08
To:

Dear Friends:

We got the call this morning that they were taking Adam to the OR and
about 30 minutes after we arrived at the University of Maryland Medical
Center a smiling cardiologist, Dr. Curi, (yesterday's post had the wrong
doctor...we have only talked to about 15 surgeons since the accident happened)
came out and said things went great. The stent fit exactly between the two
that had separated. He said part of the problem was that Adam's heart is so
strong that it pumps blood with incredible force which is a good thing. He
said it was like a fist punch when you feel his pulse. They are used to 70
year old hearts being worked on so this was a bit different. There is a
possibility that the stent could move but he doesn't think it will since it is
sandwiched in between the others.

Adam is resting comfortably and they plan on removing the breathing tube
as early as tomorrow. Brian, his nurse, said Adam is breathing on his own and
the steroids should have taken care of the swelling. Tomorrow morning during
rounds the doctors will decide what to do.

He isn't out of the woods yet but on the path.

     Please pray

          • the stents stay in place

          • Adam develops no infections

          • Adam can easily do without the breathing tube

          • That Adam's body do what God designed it to do...heal and recover

          • that Adam will be strong when he hears of the death of his best
friend Jonathan

          • Jonathan's parents will continue to find their strength in the
sufficient Grace of Christ

We have received many, many kind and encouraging e-mails from you all. We
will be saving these for Adam and pray that sooner than later you will be
getting an e-mail from him.

In the Bible we see Christ can bring peace to the storm and to the sailor. We
continue to seek His peace during this storm.

Dave and Lisa Tierney
