Dear Friends:

A long but good day. Dr. Griffith came out around 6:30p to tell us the
surgery went well. We thought the surgery stretched out to 8-9 hours but a
problem with one of the OR's pushed Adam's surgery back, unknown to us, so it
was
"only" about 6 hours.

It took some time because Adam is big....over 6'2", 210 lbs, plus swelling,
and extra fluids made it difficult to get to the aorta. Dr. Griffith said he
removed the stents and sewed a dacron tube over the hole in the aorta. After
further examine Dr. Griffith said it was a big hole and had some doubt as to
whether the stents would have been able to cover the hole long term. We now
see the hand of Providence in the need for this surgery.

Adam will be in the coronary care unit probably for the weekend. His nurse,
Paula, said they would wake and wean him...decrease sedatives to wake him up
and begin working at weaning him from the breathing tube. This was tried
before unsuccessfully but we know it has to be done.

We gave Dr. Griffith a hug...Dave gave him a bear hug and Lisa a polite thank
you hug. He said his wife deserves the hugs since he often works late. So
a big thank you to Mrs. Grffith, too!

There is a slight risk of stroke and paralysis from this surgery but Dr.
Griffth's experience tells him that will not be a problem. Adam is still in
critical but stable condition and we know he has a long road to recovery, but
today is a good day.

Our hearts (including our aortas) rejoice in answered prayer and we thank God
for all of you who have been praying for Adam's surgery. Thank you, too,
for all your kind comments.

Pray:
     • Adam will recover rapidly from his surgery today without complications
     • The Coronary Care Unit will be able to successfully wean him from his
breathing tube
     • Adam will not develop any infections
     • Thanking God for His continued work in Adam's life

Good night,
Dave, Lisa, and Family

all your strength and with all your mind' ; and, 'Love your neighbor as
