Friends,

Adam has had a couple of good days after his setback on Wednesday morning.
Later on Wednesday he started vomiting again and his feeding tube ulcerated
his stomach which caused quite a bit of bleeding. After scoping out his
stomach the doctors decided to take out the tube. This means Adam needs to
eat
enough to sustain healing. The problem is he constantly becomes nauseous and
vomits...which he did, again, today. Some of which may have be aspirated but
he seems to have coughed all of it out. The thought is that the trach tube
needs to be smaller and they will greatly reduce the morphine. A smaller
trach will help Adam in swallowing and reduce the gag reflex while coughing
which
seems to be a precursor to the problem. Another issue is that Adam tends to
be nauseous after morphine so reducing this will also help...at least in
theory.

Adam has made good progress in spending time in a chair the last two days.
Yesterday, he took a wheel chair ride with a couple of friends and Dave.
Today, he walked about 30 feet with a walker and did great. Several of Dave
and
Lisa's sailing friends came to see him today which helped Adam pass the time.
His long term and short term memory seems to be functioning great. He
remembers conversations from day to day and other than not remembering the
accident seems to have no memory lapses. His goal is to be well enough to be
transferred to Good Sam's on Monday so he can begin rehab.

Please pray:
     • Adam will remain infection free...especially the graft in his aorta
     • He will overcome his nausea
     • He will continue gaining strength
     • We will reflect the love of Christ to those around us

3 John 1:2 (NIV) states, "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health
and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well."
This is our prayer for Adam that he will grow strong both in body and soul.

Thank you for your support to our family during these last 37 days.
Dave and Lisa
