Friends:

Adam is doing well. We have been back to Good Samaritan's Rehab since
Wednesday and Adam continues to make good progress in his goal to go home.

Shock Trauma offered Adam two choices: One, to go home with in house rehab
and training for Lisa and Dave to deal with the trach. Two, go back to Good
Sam's with the goal of having the trach removed. Adam chose two. They have
begun plugging the trach and Adam's oxygen levels remain high. If all goes
perfectly well he may come home on Wednesday. We are cautiously optimistic
about this.

Adam did test positive for Vanocomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE). This is
an odd infection that isn't active in Adam (it is colonized) and may leave
all by itself or they may help it with some antibiotics. It can be hazardous
to someone who has strep or staph infections because it has the possibility of
making their infection resistant to the antibiotic Vanocomycin. The
overwhelming majority of people get this from hospitals. Second, people can
get this
from door knobs in public restrooms. That is why we always have made our
children use paper towels to open the doors when leaving the bathroom. This
has been a public safety announcement.

We received the first indication of what a day in Shock Trauma costs:
$13,200.00. Dave told Adam, "When I saw the figure I took comfort in two
things.
First, we have great insurance. Second, and more importantly, the bill is in
your name." Actually, we expect to see very little of the figure because of
the great coverage we have.

Adam is down to 176 pounds which makes him a thin guy at 6'2". His strength
continues to grow as does his appetite. He is in good spirits most of the
time and has worked very hard in getting mobility back. His voice is still
weak but understandable. Lisa and Dave have become very good at lip reading
and can't wait to use this at Christmas parties.

Please continue to pray:

• Adam continues to gain strength, stamina, and appetite
• He develop no infections
• For his grandfather John Adams and Family in the loss of John's brother
• For Bill and Karen Booth, Shock Trauma friends...Bill has been in for over
a month going through a series of surgeries...pray for healing.
• We reflect the love of Christ to those around us...especially, as we enter
the Christmas season.
• That God strengthen all of us on life's journey

Zechariah 10:12 (NIV),
I will strengthen them in the LORD
and in his name they will walk,"
       declares the LORD.

Thanks for praying for our son and for us, too!
Dave and Lisa
