No, it wasn't a known bug. Only happens on perl 5.10, and I do most of my development on 5.8 (although I run 5.10 some places).
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with C3 and/or MRO, so can't create patch for this - hope someone else can do.
I think I've fixed this in r9769. Please feel free to test it, and tell me if it works ;)
