As I stood in the driveway at the conclusion of my own New Year's bird count, a flock of 20 Redpolls bounced into the yard and went to the feeders, where I could watch them for a few minutes. Great way to start the year! Earlier, I witnessed singing Tree Sparrows, White-throats and our lingering White-Crowned Sparrow, in the hedgerow, in concert. Nice. Happy 2011!
