With the release of the eBird yard/patch list feature, I decided to "adopt" the Durland preserve along Ellis Hollow Creek Rd. as my patch. and visit it at least once a week. It will be interesting to hone in on a single place and watch the avifauna change during the year. Once I started, it got me thinking about whether there would be interest in a "new" competition where interested birders would "adopt" a FLLT or other conservation oriented property. We would benefit by friendly competition and birding these properties more frequently and the organizations managing the properties would benefit by having bird counts done throughout the year. Thoughts?
Today was the first visit with American Robin ( 40+ birds ) and a single RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD.
