At 7:40AM this morning there were 14 CASPIAN TERNS foraging at Jennings Pond off Bald Hill Rd. in the Town of Danby. They weren't there yesterday late afternoon and they likely got caught in transit up from the mid-Atlantic by the wind shift last night -- I suspect there are such temporary visitors at other water bodies across the region this morning. These individuals are likely headed up to the breeding colony (~1800 pairs) on Galloo Island in northeastern Lake Ontario.
