This afternoon I had to be in my car, yet I also had several hours to spare, so I succumbed to the attraction of Upland Sandpipers and Grasshopper Sparrows.  I found 2 UPLAND SANDPIPERS from Martin Rd, then with permission drove the roads within the fairgrounds and had better views of 4 of them.  I struck out on the Grasshopper Sparrows, perhaps because they were quieter later in the day, perhaps because I spent so much time inside the fairgrounds instead of listening longer from the road as Nathan et al did.

On my way home along NYS-89 at the corner of Vineyard Rd in Romulus I saw a single CHIMNEY SWIFT foraging among a flock of TREE SWALLOWS with a few BARN SWALLOWS.  I thought it was a basin first for the year until I consulted eBird and found that Ken Rosenberg had a Chimney Swift from his yard on April 11th.
