After a hard day in the mine I stopped at Stewart Park to scan the lakeshore. There was good diversity and larger numbers of some species. Among the expected birds there were 2 SURF SCOTERS, up from one the other day, over 350 D.C. CORMORANTS, 200 A. COOT, 22 RUDDY DUCKS and 16 PIED-BILLED GREBES. I also saw my first MINK at Stewart carrying something, (small fish ?), through the shoreline duckweed.
