This morning, while surveying my back yard
where I have a bird feeder, an Eastern phoebe
flew into our garden and landed on the tip of a
garden stake. Less than 10 feet from me, it
bobbed its tail a few times while I observed
it with my binoculars, then it flew off.

According to eBird, this is a very unusual
sighting in Tompkins County in January.
