We heard one Great Horned Owl hooting about 5:45 am this morning from the
woods, audible from right outside of our house. It stopped the instant daylight
crept in. Second observation of GHOs hooting near our home, separated by a few
months- here's hoping they will nest!

Subject: [cayugabirds-l] great horned owls

My son went outdoors about 11 pm, last night to check the outdoor furnace. He
heard ,not far from the house, in the woods, to the north/west ---hoot, hoot.
Then right away an answering hoot, hoot from the south. After a minute another
faint hoot, hoot still farther south (woods). 3 Great Horned Owls. Today there
were rafts of Canada Geese all along the lake shore and doing a great lot of
honking. Also all the usual birds at the feeders & suet.
