Hi Kim: I live near that area. Bald Eagles have successfully nested in that location for at least the past 2 years. There were previous nesting attempts during 2008-2010, but I can't confirm whether they were successful.
In past years the pair has left the area during the non-breeding season; however, this year they seem to have remained, as I have seen them numerous times throughout the fall and winter. In late December/early January they were regularly seen feeding on a road-killed deer just north of Spencer. Is that a known nesting site? I also heard my first "konkareee" of a red-wing blackbird there at the same time. A beautiful way to end February and move into March.
