The Montezuma Audubon Center is pleased to
welcome New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Wildlife
Technician Frank Morlock on Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 PM for a
presentation about the American Black Duck. Once the most abundant fresh-water
duck in eastern North America, the black duck population
declined steadily for three decades and reached an all-time low in the
1980s. Mr. Morlock will discuss the physiology and history of the Black
Duck, historic population levels, and management efforts taking place at the
Montezuma Wetlands Complex and across the Atlantic Flyway, focusing on the
winter banding program. A guided walk to search for waterfowl
will follow the lecture.
Fee: $3/child; $5/adult, $15/family, FREE
for Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. Space is limited and
registration is required. Please call 315-365-3588 or e-mail
montez...@audubon.org.
