Last night at Wegmans, dusk, in the lane by the water. Two police cars,
officers interviewing some poor soul in trouble at the end of the lane that
divides the lot in half. ( they were doing a very good job keeping things
calm). Going back to my car I saw a shape fly along the water away from the
store. I thought that was no duck, and was able to view a Coopers or
Goshawk in at tree near the employees' smoking hut. He flew towards the
parking lot and I lowered my binoculars only to see him swoop down at a
duck walking between the police cars. It was a very brief scuffle, the duck
escaped and the hawk flew up across the water. An awful lot of excitement
at the Wegman's parking lot.

Moral of the story if you haven't figured it out already: Always
carry your binoculars when shopping.
