Spring has finally sprung and birds are flooding into the Montezuma Wetlands 
Complex. Hundreds of thousands of migrating waterfowl, breeding bald eagles and 
sandhill cranes, and singing songbirds have returned. Our upcoming programs 
will connect you with birds and habitats at this globally significant Important

Apr. 3, Thursday, 9:00 AM—12:00 PM  Montezuma Birding Van Tour
Ducks, geese and swans are on the move as the spring migration season is upon 
us. Hop in our van for an excursion to Montezuma’s birding hotspots where 
hundreds of thousands of waterfowl can be seen! Participants are encouraged to 
bring their camera and binoculars. Fee: $8/child; $13.50/adult.

Apr. 12, Saturday, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM Nature of Montezuma Lecture Series- Lucy 
Winters Durkin on John James Audubon
The MAC is proud to welcome Lucy Winters Durkin who will give a presentation 
about her great-great grandfather, John James Audubon, and how he came to be 
America’s preeminent wildlife artist. Ms. Winters Durkin is a longtime art 
history instructor whose interests range from early Renaissance frescoes to 
contemporary Japanese works on paper. Her presentations blend formal analysis 
with other disciplines including music, literature, religion, philosophy, 
science and political history. Lucy’s formal training began with a BA in 
European history at Smith College, followed by a Master’s degree in art history 
at Williams College. While at Williams, she curated several exhibitions, 
including a highly successful show on John James Audubon at the Sterling and 
Francine Clark Art Institute. Fee: $4/child, $6/adult, $20/family, FREE for 
Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex.

Apr. 24, Thursday, 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM Derby Hill Hawk Watch Trip
Visit Lake Ontario for the spectacular spring raptor migration and leave the 
driving to us. Travel in the Montezuma Audubon Center van to witness thousands 
of broad-winged hawks, re-tailed hawks, bald eagles and many more! If weather 
conditions do not cooperate, the program will be moved to Friday, April 25. 
This program is offered in cooperation with the Onondaga Audubon Society. Pack 
a lunch. Fee: $17.50/child, $22.50/adult.
