Just a quick update on the DeRuyter Reservoir (Madison County) Great Shearwater found by Gian Dodici on Friday morning. Last night there was an opportunity to rescue the bird, which was in distress, and get it to a wildlife rehabilitator where it could be fed and evaluated. The bird was weak but still feisty when it came off the water, and had not been hit (yet) by boat traffic. Thanks to all who assisted in the rescue, and I hope for positive updates on the bird's condition.
