Tossing in a belated report of a Yellow Warbler in downtown Ithaca on Dec 3. The bird was trying to glean insects off sycamore fruit at 706 W. Green St. across from Agway – it was around 4pm. It was quite active and constantly giving its “chewp” alarm-type call note. Last saw it flying toward Agway. May end up in the canal zone near Wegman’s like several previous December Yellow’s (Ken’s 2006 bird comes to mind and I recall there was one a year or so after that). I wonder if these late ones are vagrants from northwestern NA?
