Friends who live on the north end of Scofield Rd., Lansing, where we have all
seen the Short Eared Owls, are fairly sure that Rick saw 2 SNOWY OWLS flying
over the fields on Saturday before the storm. It was late afternoon. I asked
them to compare Snowy Owls with Short Eared Owls.

Their description:
We looked up short eared owls and Rick is 99% sure he saw a snowy. Really
white, with a big wing span. "Big freakin owl hunting in the day" says Rick.
"It was the size of a great horned owl."

Marlaine has taken SFO and says that Rick frequently consults their bird
guides when he sees birds he is not sure about. They are very outdoorsy people
and regularly see a Great Horned Owl in their back yard woods.
