The New York State deer hunting season is underway with the regular gun
season starting Saturday, November 21, 2015 and ending Sunday, December 13,
2015.  The City of Ithaca would like to inform residents and visitors that
hunting, trapping, and the discharge of any firearm or archery equipment
upon any public property in or owned by the City of Ithaca is prohibited.
This includes the Six Mile Creek natural area, the City’s dams and
reservoir, and the City’s open water portion of Cayuga Lake.  The hunting
prohibition includes wild animals, fowl and birds.

If you encounter hunters in one of these areas, you can contact the New
York State Department of Conservation Public Protection Dispatch
Center at *1-877-457-5680
<1-877-457-5680> or the Ithaca Police Department through the 911 dispatch
center.*  Hunters who violate the City Code are subject to fines up to
$250.
