A Great Horned Owl just flew in to perch on the spire of a Norway Spruce about 200' downslope from my living room window. Although I can sometimes hear GHOWs in the far distance, my neighborhood is a long-standing Barred Owl area - I hear them up close on an almost daily basis. So this evening's GHOW is a special treat, made even better by its appearing in the open while there's still enough light to see more than a silhouette.
