Returning from grocery shopping just now, I did some birding on the fly: Checked out a large raft of ducks I saw while hurtling down Rt 13: turned out to be mixed Aytha. From southeast of East Shore Park, I identified Canvasback and Redhead, but there may have been other species too. Several hundred ducks swimming around together.
And on Mt Pleasant Road, a Rough-legged Hawk, first I've seen up there this winter.
