The gray-morph EASTERN SCREECH-OWL has continued to roost throughout January along Siena Drive in northeast Ithaca in the same dead tree trunk as reported in November. It seems to stay in view by day quite often now, mostly asleep but sometimes waking to keep an eye on squirrels snuffling in the leaf litter below. But the likelihood of seeing the owl is still highest in the late afternoon.
