Asher, Is there any chance that the bird you saw this morning might have been a similar-looking female Purple Finch? Purple Finch is a classic early April migrant here in the Ithaca area, whereas Rose-breasted Grosbeaks typically arrive back here in late April or early May. This eBird map for Rose-breasted Grosbeak for Mar-Apr 2017 shows that the vast majority of records are from Central America: http://ebird.org/ebird/map/robgro?neg=true&env.minX=-141.8379045924362&env.minY=8.949898346376457&env.maxX=-29.33790459243619&env.maxY=52.11981561533453&zh=true&gp=true&ev=Z&mr=3-5&bmo=3&emo=5&yr=cur&byr=2017&eyr=2017

Still not quite sure if in basin. Our drainage goes into Miller Creek, and i'm pretty sure into Cayuga Lake. -- asher -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: Welcome and Basics Rules and Information Subscribe, Configuration and Leave Archives: The Mail Archive Surfbirds BirdingOnThe.Net Please submit your observations to eBird! -- -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
