Just returned from a waterfowl count in the Montezuma Complex. Several thousand Snow Geese in the Rt 31 Mucklands. Much of the ponds/wetlands are still frozen (in general about 80% ice cover). Nevertheless, Northern Pintails, American Wigeon were there by the hundreds as well as a few GW Teal, Gadwall, Wood Ducks, Mallards and Black Ducks, and at least one Northern Shoveler. And quite a few Red-winged Blackbirds filtering in.
