>Sept. 13, Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Montezuma Bird Watching Van Tour

The summer is coming to a close but the autumn bird migration is well underway. 
 Join us as we look for raptors, waterfowl, shorebirds and songbirds and 
observe how they are preparing for their long and impressive journey. We will 
explore Montezuma's birding hotspots where dozens of species can be seen and 
heard! Binoculars, a spotting scope, and field guides will be provided. Fee: 
$8/child; $15/adult, $40/family. PRE-PAID RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.



>Sept. 14-15, 7 p.m. Friday - 7 p.m. Saturday

22nd Annual Montezuma Muckrace

This Big Day competition begins at 7:00 p.m. Friday, and runs for 24 hours. 
Teams will compete to see who can see the most species within the Montezuma 
Wetlands Complex. The complex includes the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, 
the Northern Montezuma Wildlife Management Area and the Montezuma Audubon 
Center. The higher purpose behind the fun is to raise $10,000 for the Friends 
of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. There are six categories in which to 
compete:  Competitive, Low-carbon (no cars used), Recreational, Family/Mentor, 
Collegiate and Photo. Visit www.friendsofmontezuma.org to register or sponsor a

>Sept. 19, Wednesday 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sunset Bird Watching Walk

The peak of the bird migration is upon us. Join us for a casual, 1-mile stroll 
through our forests, grasslands and wetlands to see dozens of waterfowl, 
shorebird, raptor and songbird species as they prepare for nightfall. 
Binoculars and field guides will be provided. Fee: $5/child, $7/adult, 
$20/family, FREE for Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex.



>Sept. 22, Saturday 12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Howland's Island BYOBike Tour

Join us for the inaugural biking tour of Howland's Island. Participants will 
enjoy an undulating, 3-mile cycle on gravel roads, getting to enjoy a lesser 
seen side of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. Howland's Island is rich in 
cultural history and is also a hub for a variety of songbirds, shorebirds, and 
waterfowl. You must provide your own non-motorized bicycle and helmet. 
Binoculars and field guides will be provided. Directions to the meeting point 
will be provided upon participant registration. Fee: $5/child; $10/adult, 
$25/family. PRE-PAID RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.



>Sept. 29, Saturday 10:00 a.m. -  5:00 p.m.

4th Annual Savannah Arts Festival

Fine artists, photographers, sculptors, crafters, quilters, jewelers, wood 
workers, and other talented people will show and sell their handcrafted 
creations at this fun, family event. The festival will also feature great food, 
live music, fine art contests, photography contests, art workshops, sidewalk 
chalk art, Lego building, the Trashin' Fashion Runway Show, prizes, and more!

Admission: $5/person, $10/family.



>Oct. 4, Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Migration Mania Van Tour

The peak of the waterfowl migration is upon us. Join us for a birding van tour 
to see dozens of ducks, geese and swans as they settle into Montezuma's marshes 
to feed and rest. Binoculars and field guides will be provided. Fee: $8/child; 
$15/adult, $40/family. PRE-PAID RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.
