Over the past few weeks I have tried to identify them from the dead plant stems and seed heads...it's not easy. Some of them (I think) are chicory, goldenrod (native), dock (not burdock), plantain, hyssop, bedstraw and I'm sure there are others. BTW, the redpolls are now frequenting the even-weedier field immediately west of the white observatory building on Mt Pleasant Rd. Are there any reports of redpolls at feeders? It was really difficult counting them in the wind! They were about 1/4 mile down from the corner of Tucker and Aiken Roads, on the east side of Tucker, feeding in the brush and vegetation alongside the road. Very easy to see!
