I took part in the annual DEC waterfowl count today, and our party counted more
than 20,000 Redhead and associated Aythyas between Long Point and the ice edge
at Union Springs. They weren’t in 1 or 2 massive flocks as in past years, but
rather in many many flocks of 1-3,000. Thousands of Canada Geese, mergansers
and other ducks as well – it was quite a spectacular morning.
