General Description:  This role is having the following responsibilities of
iSeries Administration and migration of the same.


Essential Skills:

 

.         Hardware knowledge of Power5, 5+ and 6 systems

.         Building LPAR

.         OS Installation and Upgrading , skip level OS Upgrades

.         iSeries maintenance & Trouble Shooting

.         Experience on HMC, Firmware upgradation on System i and HMC

.         Experience on different level of Migration

.         Performance analysis and Tuning 

.         Working knowledge of BACKUP tools like BRMS

.         Good understanding of tape and DASD encryption

.         Working experience of internet working/connectivity concepts (LAN,
WAN, Bridges, Routers, Firewalls, Proxys).

.         Performing vendor management, such as reporting hardware failure
and working with CE to replace/repair equipment

.          Knowledge on Robot/Console and Network or Bytware

.          Knowledge on Security Tools like Pentasafe, PowerLock

.          SAN disk configuration to LPAR

.          Use of tools (DBU, DFU, SQL)

 


Desired Skills:

.         Experience on Data center migration

.         Experience on Security Auditing

 

 


Desired Certification:

IBM System-i Certified





Education Requirements

.            Bachelor of Science in IT, Bachelor of Engineering on Computers
or IT, or equivalent with 7 to 8 years of iSeries professional-level
relevant experience.
