Resident with host-based operating system and migration skill-sets
for aix and sun solaris
(8,9,10). ideally the candidates should poses skills with both
os’s. they have roughly 60
percent aix servers and 40 percent solaris. they have between
50-100 servers that will be
effected by this host based migration effort. the task at hand
will be host based migration
from older symmetrix platforms (dmx3 and dmx4) to vmax. aix
represents the biggest
need, however the more problematic os will be sun solaris from a
qualification standpoint
on vmax (may require various updates to be compliant). specific
hands on storage skills are
ideal, but not necessary. the tools available for host based
migrations will be powerpath
where applicable and supported, lvm using the native mirroring
tools of the os, veritas
volume manager, and veritas file system manager. open migrator is
a nice to have. need
well rounded system administrator skills with recent applicable
experience with the
aix/solaris/lvm/vvm/etc.... on the aix side experience utilizing
the vscsi adapter
technology is required. they are not using npiv at this point. on
the solaris side experience
with jumpstart is requested. the underlying storage knowledge is
not so much a
requirement. the customer storage team can work with these
individuals to configure the
storage is needed. the candidate should also be able to mount and
unmounts nfs file
shares per this requirement. this is one of the parts that the
previous resource was not
able to accomplish. this is a must have on the unix side.
migrations would be happening after hours so night and weekend work will be
required.
the resource will also work through the customer change management
procedures as well
as act as a liason with the storage team/dba’s/and application
teams.
