*Job Title* Tier 3 Middleware Support Engineers (Weblogic, Apache) *Project Location* St Louis MO *Duration* 12 months /Contract * NEED USC/GC/EAD-GC/TN ONLY* * Skills Required and Job Description:* *NEED TO BE A NOTCH ABOVE AVERAGE WEBLOGIC ADMIN AND AGAIN MUST HAVE THE COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS. * The Service Operations Expert is responsible for ensuring the high performance and availability of the R&D IT infrastructure according to agreed upon SLAs. The scope will include providing level 3 support for critical research platform services, including a large number of business critical applications in heterogeneous environments. In addition, support multiple lower environments working closely with the development and infrastructure teams. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a good understanding of middleware technologies. *Responsibilities include:* - Provide level 3 availability management by ensuring optimal performance and availability of the R&D IT landscape. - Application and middleware performance troubleshooting; and optimization of technical architecture. - Utilize enterprise tools to monitor critical R&D applications and infrastructure components in order to perform detailed performance analysis, proactive tuning and alerting for E2E business critical workflows. - Partner with the performance testing and capacity teams to provide performance and forecast reports on the health and load of critical business processes to help ensure R&D applications are highly scalable and the IT landscape has adequate capacity. - Create and maintain technical support playbooks and SOPs. - Collaborate with the performance and development teams to identify performance tuning opportunities. - Coordination /communication/influence of software development teams to adhere to continuous performance improvement and enterprise standards. - Develop and manage internal relationships with leadership teams, business managers, Global IT and business teams as well as external relationships with IT vendors and industry peers. - Work collaboratively across matrix organization to implement solutions both within R&D IT and with other IT partners. - Follow global IT processes for incident, change, and problem management as well as keeping CMDBs and knowledge base evergreen. - Participate in incident and problem resolution. *Qualifications* *Required Skills:* - Bachelors Degree (preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or Engineering) - 5+ years experience 2nd level support with Weblogic and Apache web servers - Experience with Java applications performance tuning. - Experience with Weblogic - Experience with Oracle Service Bus - Experience with or administering Apache Tomcat - Experience analyzing head and thread dumps, and application logs - Strong interpersonal ,organizational, written, oral communication and problem solving skills - Demonstrated success in contributing to a continuous process improvement environment - Demonstrated willingness and ability to work in a fast-moving dynamic team-oriented environment - Ability to work in a fast paced environment and drive tactical response issues. - Experience with Unix batch / shell scripting - Manage ambiguous situations, strong critical thinking and ability to be decisive while working cooperatively - Must be a self starter, collaborate across team boundaries, drive issues to conclusion and hold others accountable for results - Must have strong influencing skills - Must be able to successfully manage small to medium sized projects - Must be able to follow and adhere to Monsanto policies and procedures *Desired Skills:* - Experience with Websphere. - Experience with Windows. - Experience with Cloud Foundry. - Experience with IBM BPM. - Experience with Application Performance Management (APM) solutions. - Application development experience (preferably in a DevOps environment) - Windows Server administration experience. - Knowledge of relational databases. - Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) frameworks - Familiarity with SCRUM or Agile software development methodologies - Experience with enterprise monitoring and performance tools - Experience with Windows shell scripting. - Experience with Linux and Unix operating systems - Candidates who succeed in this fast-paced dynamic environment excel in the following competencies: - *Team Orientation:* Works cooperatively with others: encourages participation, values the contribution of all team members. - *Relationships and Networks:* Develops effective relationships within the team and across TPS; fostering strategic partnerships inside and outside the organization to address business needs; building credibility with the business functions. - *Results Orientation:* Fosters a sense of urgency, identifies and overcomes obstacles.
