salam sabaia w shabab hope everything is going well in this hot summer Ramadan is quickly approaching and I`ve been discussing with some of you in the Arab community a crazy idea, which might work tough, at least if you like it! We were thinking to organize CC iftars to celebrate Ramadan ..and open culture of course:) the event should be an informal one, self organized, a bit like our Salons that we have already started in Amman and Beirut It can be an informal talk, a talk with a guest, a screening of a CC released movie, a small concert with CC music, cause we still dont have a Ramadan musalsal under CC even if I`m working on it:) Of course, iftar should be offered to people attending which of course makes everything more complicated..but Ramadan karim should be a month where a lot of people sponsors iftars, rich people and companies, so why not asking a sponsorship for such a cool event to companies and brands that are interested to show their involvement in ramadan? On the side, we could eventually also think to collect money (donations) from people attending each iftar to support open culture and related issues, a kind of Tweestival style marathon (which should be online too) The more Middle Eastern cities we have joining the better it will be of course, we can have a regional online marathon What do you think? I`d really happy to hear the community feedback on this and I have already some companies in mind that might be interested to sponsor such a thing in each country, so I`ll be happy to see if there are any people among you interested to join the organization efforts Well, if you think that it a completely crazy idea please tell me anyway:) I `ve just tought that we have to start to change this idea of Ramadan being "the month of TV musalsalat" and we have to make it " the month of open culture":) Waiting for your comments on this salamaat dona
