hehehe...   Very close!  Not everyone needs to wait for me to say something!  :)

I did forget to mention the route-map part, which is always a good idea to redistribute ONLY the things that you need to.  that prevents the liklihood of "extra" routes leading to routing loops or evil things like that.

Hi Mohamed

I think if the question asks the redistribution of all connected interfaces to a locally enabled routing protocol, normally we say this inside the routing process with all connected subnets. But at the same time, this routing protocol will talk to another router through an interface and that connected (routing protocol enabled interface) interface does not need to be included in the redistribution. For finer granularity, you can avoid that interface by excluding  with a route map and with an access list.

Hope I am correct and ofcourse we can wait for Scott’s comments!

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Rdistribute connected

Hi

I have a question which is very critical to me as i really need to understand. Why in every routing protocol, the redistribute connected is done with all of the subnets connected? Although some of this subnets is advertised through other routng protocol on the same router. Is there a technical obligation for this? or does it help in other kinds of redistribution?

I feel that there is something hidden in this issue?

Thanks/Regards
