The message below seems to say that r2 has no updates to send to r1.  A few basics to check, do you have the neighbor statements on both of the routers correctly configured? Are you receiving updates on r1 from r2? You should be seeing some updates on that end as well (every 30 seconds).

Do you have the RIP configs for each? Is the route continually appearing and timing out, or just times out for good after the passive interface command?

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] WB 8.0 Section 18 GRE Tunnels

I am in the middle of section 18 in WB 8.0 and am having a problem I cannot seem to resolve between router 1 and router 2 running Rip v2. Based on the comments I should be seeing the 150.100.35.0 network in R2’s routing table but I am not. Per the instructions I have changed the primary and secondary addresses to make OSPF work and added the no validate-update-source under the Rip process on both R1 and R2 with the passive-interface command for the appropriate interfaces and neighbor statements. Once I add the passive-interface command under R1 along with the neighbor statement the 150.100.35.0 route will eventually time out on R2 and I am getting a message on R2 – (when I run debug ip rip events)

*Jul 23 22:26:06.443: RIP: sending v2 update to 150.100.36.1 via FastEthernet0/0 (150.100.36.2) - suppressing null update

which I cannot find any information on and may be irrelevant.

When you set up Rip v2 to unicast with the passive-interface and neighbor command should there be any type of output you can monitor in debug to watch for errors?

Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance,
