Dave, based on my experience and the Practice Labs
that I have worked on, a good option for a "BackBone
Router" would the the Frame Relay switch (router).

You'd connect the ETH/FE interface to the rest of the
network and inject the routes that way. Also, this
router can even participate in routing domains, etc.
