Hi Group,

Please be gentle - I tend to ask many silly questions in my quest to
understand

I've just completed the OSPF Lab 5 from the WB and have been through the
Proctor notes - I was happy to see my solution was correct but I'm also a
little confused.
Section 14 stated that Area 246 shouldn't see specific routes originated
from Area 57.

My solution was to create prefix-lists on R2 and R6 and then use a
filter-list to block them, however the Proctor guide says this only needed
to be done on R2 as it's the ABR for Area 246. My question is that because
we used a virtual-link between R2 and R6 to join discontiguous Area 0 -
wouldn't that then also make R6 an ABR for Area 246?

If I removed the filter-list on R6, then R4 would learn Area 57 originated
routes from R6 thus not satisfying the requirements.

One other thing - the Proctor guide only stipulates prefixes '7.7.7.0/24 le
32' and '150.50.57.0/24 le 32' be filtered, however R5 also advertises
51.5.5.5/24 (Lo1) into Area 57 - so my solution also included this subnet in
my deny prefix-lists.

I've been told from a reliable source that Scott Morris can be quite
sadistic with the labs ;-) so maybe I'm overlooking something here.
I have seen the Proctor guide pick up on subtle problems in earlier labs -
however in this case it doesn't appear to say anything about R6 being an ABR
also.

Thanks for your time and patience.
Con.
