Newer technologies, IPv6, some QoS and other things, you won't get all the details in. Are they a waste of time? No. But they won't cover everything, so you'll want to look at keeping this in mind with your study plan. Take a look at the Feature Navigator, and compare IOS images from the 2500 (whatever one you're using) and the 2801/2811 one that is being used. You'll see all the differences there to help you out!
