I had troubles with this lab and the PG doesn't really
explain a whole lot as to why things were chosen in
the final configs. So here's my questions:
Why do the final solutions have on R5's EIGRP config
the following network statements:
network 216.30.1.0
network 216.30.25.0
network 216.30.100.0
The requirement only asked that eigrp be configured on
the 216.30.1.0 network..!!??
Why was "default-information originate" put under the
RIP process on R5?
Why was "network 216.30.25.0" put under the EIGRP
process on R2? It was only asked that it be
configured on the frame relay network..??
Why was " default-information originate" put on R2
under the OSPF process?
How is the 216.30.2.0/24 network getting advertised to
the rest of the network? It's considered directly
connected on R2 and will never be redistibuted because
the route-map doesn't let it through.
Maybe someone else can help me out with some other
problems that I saw in this lab:
Here is two questions I also had from reading the
IPEXPERT forums:
Q1. The requirement is "R5 should ALWAYS be the DR".
This can mostly be achieved with either setting the
Ethernet interface priority or by modifying the
router-id however OSPF doesn't support preemption so
there are plenty of circumstances where R6 is still
the DR as R5 has failed and returned but can't preempt
R6. Is this question expecting you to overcome this?
If so, how? If not, why do they say "ALWAYS"?
Q2. At the end of the OSPF configuration section, it
says "Despite the loss of the Frame Relay network, you
should maintain connectivity throughout the network".
And just how are you supposed to reach R4 from the
other routers without the frame relay network? Another
poorly written question perhaps or have I overlooked
something?
Also--- How do I respond to the posts on the
OnlineStudyList bulletin board?
