Please forgive me if I'm overlooking the obvious:

But in the final configs, why does Cat 1 have the
following configuration in the ospf section:

area 1 virtual-link 150.50.5.5 retransmit-interval 10
authentication authentication-key ipexpert
 area 1 virtual-link 150.50.6.6 retransmit-interval 10
authentication authentication-key ipexpert

Question 1: Why would there be virtual-links on the
switch to area 1 when that switch doesn't touch area
1?

Ah but a little further down they have:

network 150.50.50.10 0.0.0.0 area 1

Question 2: I can't find where in the lab they stated
to create an SVI and throw it into area 1 on the
switches.
They DID however state to create an SVI and throw it
into area 15! This SVI ended up being in VLANB's
network. This is also in the configuration under ospf
in the final configs but where did the first one come
from?
This other interface vlan which is 150.50.50.10 is in
VLANC! that's not even mentioned in the LAB for the
OSPF sections.

Question 3 : If I'm right about the question 2 part,
in otherwords there was no need to put in the SVI
interface and the VLANC into ospf Area1.
Wouldn't you only have to configure the virtual-links
on the ABR for area 15 which would end up being
R2?...
