My experience has been that there hasnt been any checks or questions
asked regarding materials on your person. Not to say that most people
follow the rules to a tee, but there was one guy who was studying his
notes in the lobby and when we entered he still had the same paper in
his back pocket. At lunch, he still had his notes in his pocket.

As far as the luggage, it maybe better to leave it in your rental
car. Seriously, all I wanted to do is go outside right after and not
hunt people down for my gear. When it is all over it is after working
hours so most people, including the lobby staff are long gone. The
proctors have stuff to do right after the exam. You may not want to
wait around for that.
