The fa1/2 was likely a typo not removed. :) Nothing was ever plugged into that port.
Fa1/0 is a trunk, so you need an SVI (that's a feature of the NM-16-ESW module). That means you need to consider R2 within your spanning-tree and trunk assignments with other switches!
