Hello All.

I have two general questions about FR Traffic Shaping.

I have seen questions when it is requested to set a specific CIR for a given
PVC (value is provided), and also they ask for something like this:

"Routers should be allowed to burst up to their Access Rate"

Now as far as I understand, the formula to calculate the Excess Burst (BE) is
the following:

Access Rate (Port Speed) - CIR (provided) * TC/1000.

Is this formula to calculate the BE correct?

Also, if they are not specifying a TC value, is it safe to use the default
which is 100 ??

Another question that I have is that sometimes I have seen that the default BC
value is 1/8th of the CIR. But other times I have seen that it is calculated
with this formula:

CIR * TC/1000

In the Lab Exam, what could we use to feel safe if the TC is not being provided?

Thanks for the time.
