Tyson,
Thanks for your reply.
The Priority and the cost are increased only for the VLANs that are
non-root. I got it.
However, I still have issues with the 2.31 task. Here is the description.
2.31 In the event that CAT2 loses its link to CAT3, the path to the root
bridge should go through CAT4 as quickly as possible.
Do not use any cost or priority type commands on cat2 to make this
happen.
It is not mentioned that which VLAN's root bridge has to be reached!
There are 2 root bridges in this topology with the given requirements:
CAT3 for VLANs 1,12,40,300,567 and 666
CAT2 for VLAN 100.
If the link b/w CAT2 and CAT3 goes down, path to the root bridge via CAT4
means two things:
1. VLAN 100 be reached from CAT4 by CAT3
2. rest of the VLANs be reached from CAT4 by CAT2
This means, we have to reduce the cost on Po34 and Po24 on the CAT-4 to 5
from 12.
and enable uplinkfast on both switches CAT3 and CAT2.
The PG Guide is misleading by mentioning Backbone fast and then configuring
uplinkfast only on CAT2.
It also mentions the cost alteration on CAT3 which is a root switch instead
of CAT4.
The PG has to be corrected for this section! What do you think?
