The question and answer are correct.

Classful information does not carry the subnet mask in the update.

Classless (like in RIP v2) routing protocols contain the subnet mask.

That's the key to answering this question.

Hello all,
The RIP Question in this section says. "The routing updates should
conatin classful subnet mask information using an older version of the
protocol"


The souliton to this problem is to configure RIP version 1 as the
routing protocl between the two routers. To me this question seems
incorrect because subnet masks are not propagated in RIP version 1.

I think question needs to be changed and must not inlcude version
information.
