The fact that you are creating the MFR interface and putting "encap frame
mfr 1" on the physical interfaces is the equivalent of the "ppp multilink
group 1" command set for PPP.
 
So you are essentially doing the same basic thought process, just slightly
different commands.

A little clarification if you don't mind.  I thought MFR was similar to PPP
multilink in that you could essentially bond two circuits. But, after doing
Task 6.17 with the two point to point MFR subinterfaces, there is no
corresponding "multilink"/bonding type command. 

 

Does this multilink functionality happen simply because both physical
interfaces reference MFR 1?
