I think there shouldn't be any issue apart from the fact that you know for sure that there will be no external routes originating from that Area if its configured as STUB only.

Is there a drawback to that? On Thu, Aug 13, 2009 at 10:17 PM, Antonio Dee <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Taqdir, What if your ASBR cannot access a normal area and has a link only to a stub area? Then there is no way to get the Type 5 LSA into that stub area. In this situation, you need to inject the Type 7 from the ASBR which is then converted to Type 5 on the ABR connecting to your other OSPF areas in your AS. That is if the P-bit is on then Type 5 conversion occurs. [RIP Router] <----> [OSPF Stub Area] <---> [Normal Area] Cheers! I can add my ASBR in normal area and do whatever I want to do ?
